Extended Information | Not intended for use in melt and pour soaps, bath bombs or dry toiletries. Use water-dispersible versions instead. Soluble only in oils and solvent i.e.alcohol. Especially useful in cold process soaps for pale and subtle colour, this pigment is NOT water soluble and is best added to the hot, melted oils where it disperses and remains true in the final product, although it may discolour at first (i.e. yellows may turn orange and back to yellow again). A little goes a very long way. Picture is of product dispersed in solvent. This pigment is not water soluble. It will colour oils, some solvents and glycol. When using this product to colour cold-process soaps it is important to add it to the oils before adding the lye. Full description... Phthalocyanine Blue BN, also called monastral blue, phthalo blue (and others) (CAS 147-14-8, EINECS 205-685-1) is a bright, greenish-blue crystalline synthetic blue pigment from the group of phthalocyanine dyes. It was first developed as a pigment in the mid-1930s. Its brilliant blue is frequently used in paints and dyes. It is highly valued for its superior properties such as light fastness, tinting strength, covering power and resistance to the effects of alkalies and acids. It has the appearance of a blue powder, insoluble in water and most solvents. Do Not use this pigment in Bath Bombs. |

The strength of colour obtained from any dye or pigment is dependent upon the concentration used. Using concentrated dyes or pigments may result in deep colour that can bleed from the product in use and/or discolour surfaces. We suggest that all dyes and pigments are used sparingly, further diluted where necessary, and chosen so as they are appropriate for the use they're being put to. The Soap Kitchen cannot accept any responsibility for any unexpected consequences as a result of the use of any of our dyes or pigments. It is the customer's responsibility to check that any dye or pigment is suitable for the use that they intend it for and test the dye or pigment for suitability.
