More Information
Extended Information Ascophyllum nodosum
Ascophyllum nodosum is a large, common brown alga in the family Fucaceae, being the only species in the genus Ascophyllum. It is seaweed of the northern Atlantic Ocean, also known as Norwegian kelp or knotted Kelp. Norwegian seaweed grows in cold, crystal clear water withstanding both freezing in winter and full exposure to the sun in summer. Its extreme climatic conditions mean that some chemical compositions are produced naturally in Norwegian seaweed in greater amounts than the seaweed in other parts of the world. Using seaweed that grows in this environment ensures top class products. In fact Ascophyllum nodosum, carefully harvested and processed, is the ideal ingredient for functional foodstuffs and food supplements, for cosmetics and for animal feed and fertiliser production.
