Borax (Sodium Borate)
More Information
Extended Information Also known as Sodium Borate. Borax is used as an emulsifying and thickening agent when making your own lotions and creams etc. to many older and traditional recipes. This product has strict limitations where it is used in the making of leave-on products offered for sale to the public.

Also widely used as a cleaning agent in it's own right, it can also be added to laundry detergents and most household cleaning products to give them a 'boost'.

Use also as a herbicide and insecticide, as plants and insects find even quite small doses toxic.

Risks: Although Borax is a natural product, care should be taken to avoid ingestion. Avoid use around food. Clean off surfaces thoroughly before using for food preparation.

Borax... Use in creams Borax (Sodium Borate) can be used in emulsion below 5%. Normally it is dissolved in the water phase. This is the legal maximum currently for use in creams etc. in the EU.
